THE MIAMI HERALD- Artist pays tribute to his superheroes
THE MIAMI HERALD- Artist pays tribute to his superheroes Growing up, artist Leonardo Hidalgo was infatuated with comic books and the pages filled with superheroes who tracked down the bad and ugly. Later, as his art career flourished, his favorite characters became his inspiration. Known for his canvas creations of Superman, Pop Eye, Thor, Mickey Mouse and Scarface’s Tony Montana, the Brickell resident has decided to pay homage to the real life “good guys.” Remembering the Heroes, a Sept. 11 tribute and exhibit, takes place Sunday through Sept. 25, at Wynwood’s Cafeina. Several of Hidalgo’s pieces will be featured, including “The Fire Hero” and “Superjoker.” “Firefighters and police officers are the true heroes for me. They are men of great courage, determination and strength, who put their life on the line on a daily basis,” he explained. “I paint superheroes from the comics of my youth, but these men are the real deal, and I admire them for their bravery.” Hidalgo’s exhibit at Cafeina, 297 Northwest 23rd St., Miami.
